After a little scare back in October when I found he had jumped out I was lucky enough to have him pull thru. Almost daily water changes along with stress guard and vita chem I think we’re pivotal in him pulling thru. He looks like he’s grown about 1.5” since October in his unheated tank. I’ve began to notice a lot more Day time active with him and have noticed a more green tint instead of the typical grey. Also have been steady feeding massivore but considering adding alternatives. Really happy with this fish and can’t wait to see how he makes out in the future.

Great lookin cat! nice work with him... glad he pulled through for ya.

I’ve been lacking an update but mostly due to nothing significant to note. Yesterday weekly 50% water change and massivore soaked in vitachem. Honestly believe the vitachem single handedly saved this fish. I’d say he’s put on at least two to three inches of length since I’ve received him. Tanks water temp has been steady at 68 degrees. Currently working out the specs for his upgrade to plywood tank or intex pond for the mean time.

Is this what they call a Chinese Wels?

Nothing really new. Had a small hunger strike for a couple weeks only would eat 2-3 pellets of Massivore ever once or twice a week. I believe it correlated with my lights automatic timer being shut off and the tank was completely dark for 3 weeks. Normally run the lights 3-4 hours a day while I’m at work. Other then that he’s been fine just working on putting some weight on.

Another update. No noticeable growth on him as of late. He’s packed on about 2.5” since I’ve gotten him still working on thickening him up a bit. From everything I’ve gathered on this specific species I’ve heard they’re super slow growers so I’d imagine I’ll hit a growth wall somewhere soon. Forgot to update I fed him some live feeders a few weeks ago and at first he was probably more scared of the feeders then the feeders of him.

My Silurus asotus seemingly quit growing a year or more ago. They are 4 years old and are 12"-18", with the known max of 36". FWIW.
