Silver and asian aro together

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes.

Asian aros+South American aros=yes
Asian aros+Australian aros=yeas
South American aros+Australian aros=yes

Depend on the size and temperment of the aros. Just make sure you have a spare tank, just incase one will get beat up or one will become more aggressive than others.

Pictures are not mine.. but i find them rather awesome.....

Lots of people who can get asian legally do mix them together... silver and asian together... i hope one day i can too.. those two types of arowana are by far the most similar looking (head) vs. jardini or black arowana or african or the lei...

yep they can mix but like King-eL said it depends on how aggressive ur aro is,MFK members on here mix them,my uncle mix them

It definately can be done... I however, like to keep my arowanas separate. I like to have a show arowana per tank, keeps them nice without frayed fins or missing scales.

Wow its been a while since I posted here. Good to be back...Anyways,

I have a friend who owns a 10 footer. Inside are 8 asian arowanas and 6 silver arowanas. From what I have observed, it appears that interspecific (different) species of arowanas can tolerate each other, but are more aggressive toward members of the same species. Feuds break out between two silvers, or two asians, but never between a silver and an asian, regardless of size.

Based on this, I can make an assumption that maybe body shape has something to do with triggering aggressive behaviour among arowanas, but that is just an educated guess.

what sort of size difference can there be ?

The closer they are to each other in terms of size, the better the chances.
