Hey everyone I'm new here. I have 3 tanks, one with two green terrors (4 inches), one with a silver arowana (6 inches) and one with an american eel (14 inches). I haven't had arowanas before but I've followed all the rules and it seems to be growing healthy. My question is that I found a pearl arowana for sale, he's a bit bigger (8-9 inches) for a good deal, would it be possible to keep him in the tank with the arowana? Or would I have to wait for them both to get bigger? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input. My tank is 5'' long, 2'' wide and 2'' fall. Not sure about the gallons. I just keep the aro in there, I figure more space will let him grow. I plan on adding the eel into the tank once the aro reaches a bigger size, the eel can be a jerk. But if I got the other arowana and divided the tank until they both grew a bigger size, would that be reasonable?

do you mean 5' long, 2' wide and 2' tall? ;)

I tried this set-up with juvies. It only took a couple of hours before I noticed torn fins on the silver and it staying stationary in one corner. I bought a divider. Next morning, somehow the jar managed to get through the divider (jumped?) and battered the silver some more. Separated them, lowered the water level slightly and made sure the divider fit snug (no gaps for the jar to swim through). Next morning, same thing. Jar managed to somehow get through to the silver's side of the tank, but this time I noticed the jar had torn fins and missing scales, so I guess the silver fought back. Finally decided it was best to put the jar in a spare growout. In short, be prepared for something like this, but hopefully, they'll be best buds!
Just cycling a 300g now, and will be trying this again with a yellow-tail in the mix.

Haha yes my bad. What about other tankmates? The tank is quite empty with one tiny arowana in there. How would a small gar or maybe wolffish workout? I'm thinking of putting my eel in with him since the eel is not aggressive and has never ate any feeders I've tried to give him, he's grown quite fond of chicken pieces and carrot slices lol.
