Hey guys,

I have has this silver aro for about a month and a half,
he started off really well and ate like a pig!
but then recently my tank got white spots so i started treatment and after the last dose of treatment the aro stopped eating and sometimes he would let his tail/mid body "slump" down but his head will still be near the surface of the water.
Yesterday he ate 3 pieces of prawn but apart from that he has stopped eating for around 3-4 days.
All the water parameters are good and my other fish (datnoids/flagtail/clown loaches) are all eating well.
What shall i do? I got told to stop feeding the entire tank for 3-4 days before trying again.

Thanks,

Swarsh

Could you please post a pic or video? and if parameters are good what are the numbers? most fellow mfkers will ask you numbers rather than good.. bad.. :) not feeding the entire stock seems fine.. for a couple of days is ok.. but dont starve if there are too many juvie sized fish..

Thanks for replying,
I have tested my water again:
Nitrate 0-0.5ppm (colour is slightly darker than the 0ppm colour, just slightly)
Nitrite 0ppm
pH 7.8
Temperature 27.4-27.5

I'm unsure on how to post a picture as it asks for a URL... do i need to upload the picture onto a website before i can post?

My silver aro normally stays in the corner of the tank behind either of my filters (out) and he would stay still, occasionally spinning around (this has always been the way my silver acts even when he is eating well) but now i sometimes see him in the same position however his body position is not straight but his head stays near surface with the tail falling lower (deeper into water)

Thanks,

Swarsh

Oh and my flagtail is still a juvie, and also my datnoids are also small 2-3 inches, with 1 being 3-4 inches. Clown loaches range from 2 inches to around 6-7 inches.

Swarsh - When you click post reply there will be a bunch of icons right about the text box, click on the one that shows a paper clip. Its the one right after the white smiley face. also if you let your icon sit over it without clicking on it it will say attachments.

GL with the aro and hope all goes well

Hopefully this works...
Here is the pic of the aro, this shows its slightly lowered back/tail but i have seen it when his tail/back is a lot lower.

from the pic i would say it seems like stress relatied. the dats could be giving it a had time. they are small, but my dats have had alot of spunk for their size. it is recomended to keep the aros alone till they are larger, cause it doesn't take much to spook them. maybe try to add some floating plants to help the aro relax. maybe move the dats aswell to see if that helps. after all that is done, you could also try to dim the lights some, while leaving a night light on.

The thing is, the aro was fine with the datnoid.
they were together for around 2 weeks and no problems, both eating really well.
it was after that final dose of the white spot treatment, then the silver aro stopped eating...
I'm thinking about leaving the tank with lights off for 1-2 days, maybe that will help with the stress of silver aro...

What 'white spot treatment' did you use? Was it ich or another parasite? My silver aro had the bad reaction to the API Super Ich Cure which contained malachite green. I'm going to only use meds as a last resort now and you should try the same.
