ive got an 8inch oscar just wondering if he would be ok with a 6inch silver arowana?

would the oscar attack the aro or what?

my tanks only around 90g but i will upgrade later on

it may work but i would grow the aro out some before putting them together
at 6 inchs the aro might be able to fit in the oscars mouth
my 8 inch oscar has a huge mouth
i am picking up a 8-9 inch aro today but i am still going to grow him to atleast a foot before putting him with my oscar

mike

Should work.

Just watch for signs of aggression.

i agree totally. if you go ahead now, i think there's a chance your oscar might just beat up the aro

the aro needs to be bigger, 1.5 or twice as long as the Oscar

I agree, the arowana will probably need to be bigger. If the oscar doesnt kill it, it will probably stress it out really bad.

Grow it out for about 6 months and you should be alright.

Oscars are not really known to be good tankmates with arowanas...

They're vicious... I've got a friend who's oscars (and they're small ones mind you) keep either attacking other fish or attacking each other. In fact, he periodically has to go and buy one or two more to replace the ones that got attacked and died.

My personal opinion is don't put oscars and arowanas together.
a nearby shop, Xian Leng, which happens to be the worldwide distributor of arowanas also agree that oscars don't make good tankmates.

but that's just my opinion...

It can work, Oscars are pussies.

That must be an exceptionally aggressive oscar. All the oscars that I have kept have been big push overs, they would always get picked on by their tank mates. The only fish ever scared of my oscars were feeders and thats if the clumsy oafs could catch them.

I got a 17" aro and a 10" oscar they go at it all day long sometimes I wake up in the morning and everyone is missing scales. Good luck every situation is gonna be different
