just got my 2nd silver today... my original i could never get to eat sticks or pellets or anything but feeders for that matter. what types of food do these fish take to , i would like to convert #1 to sticks or something and i would like to start the new aro off the right way with no feeders at all. will they eat market shrimp or anything like that??? HELLPPP!!! thanks

hi fishmanbob.. how are you.. all the best with both the aros.. before i put my suggestions in..
1. are the aros going to be housed in the same tank??? what size is / are the tank(s)?
2. what sizes are they?
I have 4 silvers at the moment and all in their individual tanks.. it really depends on a lot of things.. my largest silver, i never expected her to take on the pellets.. i didnt starve or anythin.. she was totally on feeders from when i got her at around 6 inches.. i had feeders in there and still chucked in pellets everyday and she gradually took to it.. i've tried prawns but never touches it.. on the other hand the other 3 eat prawns and sticks.. 2 of these aros eat anything i chuck in there for them.. but i really had a tough time with the smallest aro i have.. he is around 13" now.. jus refused to take the sticks.. and after 3 failed attempts to starve and all he now seems to like the sticks..

the best diet is a mixed diet.. prawns.. sticks.. crickets.. feeders(prob once a month..).. squid.. bloodworms.. earthworms.. but do stick to a pattern of feeding.. i feed twice a day.. early like 6am and then again at 6pm.. all the best again cheers mate..

mine loves superworms, silversides, smelt, and raw market shrimp.

BTW, Hikari carnivore sticks float and have an aro on the package.

mine loves freeze dried jumbo shrimp... never had a problem getting them to eat... my friend has 2 of them and had a blue one as well, they all took the shrimp right away... if you do the freeze dried it floats as well
