i have two rather young silvers about 7-8 inches in a 75 (their :D 180 72x24x24 is cycling :nilly:) I have seen these two sort of "square off" and bite each other:hitting: before but no serious injuries from each other that i know of. Another thing is when i watch them during the day they do nothing to each other. and the pleco(ill talk more about this :irked:wanka later) seems to not even mind them Both of the aros' bottom fins are practically gone in the same area on both fish. Has anyone experience two aros fighting and biting each others' fins?

Also i suspect my newly acquired pleco is at fault because my aros sleep on fake plants that go up to the surface and my pleco comes up to the edges of the tank. So the large(13'')common pleco i recently attained from a friend, well i cant seem to feed him.. yes ive tried feeding veggies nd all that all at the proper times and under proper lightin. he is always rummaging around the tank and bumpin into my driftwood nd stuff. but he is he is the prime suspect. I also already ruled out the possibility of fin rot. :( thoughts? suggestions? Personal experinces?:help2:

i always heard that you cannot keep two arows together...they only get along when it is multiple arows...meaning three or more... so sooner or later one will probably do great harm to the other...or worse. you can only get away with this when they are very small or if you have an enomous tank.. so time is not on your side since they are getting older now..the pleco can be fed with thong like things.. it is like you would use for salad except very long and will reach down to the bottom of the tank ...i usually put a couple of algae pellets into my plecos cave or zucchnni etc this way.

like liz said. 2 aros together is hit or miss. sometimes it works most times it doesn't. i had 2 living together for a year and a half tho before i saw fighting. had to split them with a divider then keep trying. eventually i got a 3rd and 4th aro which brought down fighting big time! now back down to 3 the pecking order continues, recently thru in some like "hanging" plants to break up the direct eye sight and haven't noticed any fighting since

I would suspect you have 2 male aros. Judging from body type (not a proven method) I believe I have a male and a female (much deeper body) and there has never been a hint of a problem.

aros are territorial beings.. to lessen their aggression, try adding more silvers.. maybe 4 or more so they would total 6.. only then their aggression would subside.. if you could'nt buy more aros, separate them..

Thanks liz. thanks all. For now i have put the smaller of the two into a 55 by himself and the larger remains in the 75 with mr pleco. This comin saturday i am going to get 1 more aro of the same size and put em all into my cycling tank then add the smaller are shortly thereafter. then the bigger guy after another week. thanks again for all da input. hope everything goes well. if worse comes to worse i will have to sell back all but one. :duh:
