I'v been feeding my Aro: fish/prawns/anchovies since he was brought home, and i hv neva fed food sticks to my former aros. i want to try those things so it should get the protien in all it needs to develop, the colour specially :nilly: um soo Hikari products in my country are very expensive so i hv to ask this question ,wil my aro eat food sticks? and is there any special way i should follow to feed pellts/foodsticks

thanks for reading cheers

You aro will definitely eat food sticks... maybe not immediately, they're very stubborn when it comes to pellets, but eventually it will.

Another option for the color is krill, if Hikari products are too expensive. Or you could make your own food. Cut up and mix all the things you're already feeding in unflavored gelatin, but also add powdered astaxanthin, for color.

hey hesh.. takes a little bit of time.. smaller aros are much more easier to train on pellets.. my largest silver was 16" when she started trying pellets.. starved her on 3 different occasions and finally gave up.. but i was pretty surprised when one day she jus went for them.. how much is it in srilanka? the smallest bag is about 250gm and the largest is a 1kg.. in INR its 880 (2136 LKR) for 250gm and 2800 (6798 LKR) for 1kg..

I originally heard about this from Raychel (Laticauda), and knowing she frequents thegab.org I took a look over there and they have a recipe for this. Theirs is specifically for goldfish, so it has a lot of greens in it, but you can tailor it to the specific fish you wanna feed. The awesome thing is that they list the benefits of certain ingredients (like salmon having a lot of omega 3, I think, etc). They also tell you how to make it float, and how to make it sink.
