For how long could a 4inch Silver be in a...
140L tank
400L tank

I want one so bad:nilly:

Your gonna need to give the tank dimensions to get an accurate answer. As a guide try to keep the aro in a tank that is at least 3 times longer then the aro and has a width at least equal to the length of the aro.

Also realize that average growth rate of a silver aro is 1 to 1 1/2" per month.

Thats a guesstimate on growth of an aro right? Cause mine I've had for a month and he may have grown only like a 1/2 if that.... since I've had him.

Mine grew rapidly at a pace of 2" to 2.5" per month for the first several months.

The growth rate Bderick mentioned is actually an average, not a guesstimate, but it mainly applies to the younger/smaller silver aros. Obviously, you can't expect a 30+ inch silver to grow a the same rate, lengthwise, as a 5 inch silver. Given proper living conditions, young silvers should be growing at around that pace.

Personally, both of my silver aros have grown at least 1 inch per month. My current silver I got at 6 inches at the end of Jan. Now its about half a cm short of 9 inches.

Also Jakob, like Bderick said, it would help if you posted the dimensions of your tank.

Good catch TMDragon. I neglected to mention that the silvers aros growth slow greatly once it reaches the 24 to 25" mark.

Since I have crazy aro envy, I've been thinking og buying a neglected 5'' silver from my LFS and growing it out until it's to large for my current 55gallon.
I would keep the aro, but I wont be getting a 180 until this summer.

So, I'm guessing I would have to sell the aro once it reaches 12'' as a 55 is 12'' wide?
Or could I keep it for longer seeing as aro's are quite flexible?
