Is a 260 gal (84x30x24) large enough for a silver arowana? I would go for a smaller arowana but the jardini seems to be very aggressive from what I've read and I never see any other arowanas for sale here in Scotland.

I assume it is either 24 or 30" wide? It isn't wide enough fir any aro.

Its 30" wide, could you tell me what size tank you would recommend for one? I see plenty of people with arowana that grow to 24" in 180s and 240s so why would a 30" wide tank be too small for any arowana?

Because silver aros max around 36" as adults; and even at 30" that's barely any room to turn. You want a minimum of AT LEAST 8x3x2 to take into account the aro hitting 36" and being able to turn.

Ok, I understand that they can get to 36" but I thought they would be able to turn in 30" as they're flexible, do they get to 36" quickly? The reason I was questioning the first reply is that he said no arowana could live in a 7x2.5x2 tank, surely an arowana that only reaches 24" could live in a 30" wide tank?

Why would a silver "only" reach 24 inches?

The two aro's I lived around (were my friends) reached 24 inches FAST.

In his reply he said the tank isn't big enough for any aro, he didn't just say it was too small for a silver. I'm asking why the tank wouldn't be big enough for any arowana when there are species that stay smaller than a silver?
