hi does anyone know where to get a nice cheap 6'' silver arowana in Australia (preferable Sydney) the cheapest i have see is $400 when they are a quater of the price in USA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you :)

hi bud. yeh they are kinda harder to get in aus as they are illegal/noxious here. So you will have to pay a bit more in the hundreds. There arent many Silvers just yet at the moment being listed, so do keep a look out but the cheapest ive seen them for was $300 which was a while ago.
Yes where i come from (Singapore) my uncle sells silvers for only $15 a piece lol.
If only he could send them here :(
Anyways Happy hunting

cheers Oli

The only Silver I have seen is 1 hour south of me. It was a regular one, just 14" but valued at $595. In Sydney you should be able to find a supplier willing to import one for you.

400$???? WOW sound like a rip off, But sure if its almost impossible to get them. And how much is that in US dollar? A jardini here in sweden is 50-100USD and i bet its half the money for u sice u got them in ur backyard

The thing that really gets my gears grinding is that I can literally catch them 60-90 minutes down the road in a dam at 2ft long. They only come up periodocally in pet stores and even then, a 9-12" specimen costs an average of $200. Americans can get the same fish at the same size for 30-40 bucks.
Just for the record, american currency is worth roughly 10% more then australian money.

okay silver aros arent illegal. i think theyre illegal to import. and yes 600 a piece is the average price for a 20 inch specimen.

thank you and yea jardinis are around $70-$100 for a 8'' and i will probably try and find good looking jardini and start from there. But first i got to find a good 6ft tank in sydney.
Thanks again
