My silver has been freaking out for the past couple of weeks for no apparent reason and now spends most of the time on the bottom of the tank in a corner. Even when I walk up to the tank and it can see me coming it still freaks out.

Is it probable that it is on the bottom of the tank as its stressed out?

Mine has done this on occasion after water changes b/c I think they freak him out. He's only down there for 10 or 20 minutes though. How long has it been?

how big is the aro?...do you have floating plants for surface cover...mine did this after jumping out of the tank...i didn't have floating plants at that time so it feels more safe on the bottom in a corner as it is protected from 3 sides...

Its about 26" and he has been like it for at least a week. I dont have any floating plants just fake plastic plants and two real plants I put in today.

He was fine for months and suddenly just freaks out at everything.

Is he outgrowing the tank? They get spooked if they feel confined.

well pictures would help but if you dont got pictures and if its just now like this it might be scared of its surroundings now idk or it could be mating season possibly =/

That might be the problem. He is actually longer than your tank is wide. Make sure your lid is on tight because he is bound to get jumpy. Good luck.

probably jumped and banged it's head, gonna take awhile for it to get back to normal.
