I got this 18" silver aro the past saturday, I got Massivore from previous owner and tried to feed him but he is not eating. I also tried my hikari cichlid gold. he does not eat either. I have not seen him eat anyting yet. he is housed with a bala shark, a bunch of convicts, a jewel.

How can I get him started to eat?

feed him meal worms, crickets, shrimp. I am almost certain he will take it. They aren't supposed to eat pellets unless you train them to, but before that you gatta let them settle and pump them up with their normal/usual diet.

At 18" he's probably used to bigger things than pellets. You should definately try some feeder fish, worms or insects like JP said.

As time goes you could probably ween him onto pellets but good luck with that lol.

I think he is just settling in..new home ...arows take alot of time to feel relaxed.. if the previous owner was giving him massivore.. then continue to try to feed this and also try some arow sticks that float..take everything out if not eaten... and have patience and try again..they can go many many weeks without eating... so do not fret yet.. and what ever you do do not give live feeders.. that would be taking ten steps back if the previous owner did not feed him live.. and live will bring disease unless you raise your own feeders.. in a few weeks if not eating go to crickets or meal worms if nessasary..arows fast for no reason sometimes.. this guy was just relocated a big thing to a sensitive arow.. especially one at 18 inches.. good luck

i agree with Liz. still just settling in after moving tanks. should take a few days for it to start eating again

Thanks for all input. Previous owner told me he feed him massoviore and prawn. he gave me some of his massvioire. one more question, how to prevent him from developing drop eye. I dont see drop eye for now.

commercial shrimp from store or live shrimp? deshelled/beheaded or whole? I have grinded frozen beef heart for my rbps, can I try some on him?

there's no real answer on how to prevent drop eye. most of the time, it just happens. most silvers i see have it in at least one eye. regular raw shrimp you get from the store will work. just remove the shell first. beef heart is also good if he likes it. my silver hates beef heart! lol he's a picky bastard
