Just wondering what silver arowana go for. Saw a 5" today at LFS going for $30. Never kept them. But looking to get some. Is this a reasonable price don't know. Thanks

I have seen them ranging from $15 to 100 bucks for a 6"ish silver. I got lucky and got mine for $15. 30 bones is a pretty good deal if it is healthy. Make sure its fins arent all beat up. I have seen a lot with nasty tattered fins. I would say go for it without seeing it though:) be sure and post pix if you get it!

I have like 3 LFS but i go to 1 most. At one they don't ever have them. at another they have like 3 inch ones for 44$. And at the one that i go to he has them for 37.50$ and it is like 7-9 inchs :D he has great prices. so ya 30$ is a good price but u will need a big tank later for him.

Just know that the price of silver aro also so expensive in US... ...
some double or triple the price here in SG.....

sounds about like 10 dollars for every inch.. my lfs has an arrowana about 3 inches for 30 and told me they are getting smaller ones for 10-15 dollars a peice..

This brings up something that I have been meaning to ask. Is it a good risk to buy an egg sack aro or is it better to pay more and get one that is past that stage?

Its better to get bigger ones like 5 inches onwards if its your first time handling this type of fish. The egg sack ones are very fragile and weak, factor in stress from transportation and shipping time and you will probably get a dead aro when u reach home. Only if you have experience and are very confident that you can raise it, then go for it as they are cheap. But i would still wait a few weeks after they arrive at the LFS before i go buy it.
