Silver Arowana and African Knife Fish Compatibility?
Hey guys.. I just introduced a African Knife Fish into my Silver Aro tank. Are they compatible? I thought I saw the Knife fish take a bite at my Arowana. Any suggestions or has any one been in a situation like this before. My tank is around 180 gallons. Aro is around a foot and knife must be about 20 cm. The tank is bare.. no gravel no deco..nothing.. I thought of putting a pipe in so the knife could hide in the morning when the lights are on and i could switch it off in the night so he can swim around.. Please help. thanks.

African Knifefish are in fact nippy to other fish. My former African knifefish were also nipping my other larger clownknife that was 3 times the size. They also like to nip newly introduce fish that I added before. I later sold it.

African Knifefish are in fact nippy to other fish. My former African knifefish were also nipping my other larger clownknife that was 3 times the size. They also like to nip newly introduce fish that I added before. I later sold it.

...and the arow wher is it from?two absolutely diferent fishes in the same tank.

anyway,i think the knifefish will keep bitting the arow even if u put a pipe in in your tank.the arow has the problem now,not the knife so she must hide!

hmm.. chill people.. mistakes happen and we fail to read proper at times.. My title is very clear Silver Arowana (from Amazon) and African Knife fish( basically found along niger and congo). anyways things seem to have settled down.. i put in a tube and the knife is spending the day in there and comes out only at night for feeding.. cheers.. adios..

Why? Other then water parameters, which are similar, what else is to be considered? Likely 90% of mixes in aquariums are with fish that do not inhabit the same water ways in the wild.

Maybe a language barrier
