silver arowana and redtail catfish

I never had issues, the red tail out grew my 300 tank in about 9 months, I put the red tail in a 15,000 gallon pond. But the freeze got it before I could get it back into a warmer tank for winter.

Shouldn't be a problem but beware once the redtail grows to 2-2.5ft + it may try and eat your Aro if he doesnt catch up to the RTC's growth rate. How I know is due to experience of having a 30" RTC trying to eat my 22" Aro back then.

Personally I will never keep an RTC with anything but other catfish or a 28"+ bass/arowana. I had my 22" RTC eat my 17" Clown Knifefish along with many other Central American cichlids, they are so ferocious.'

Good luck!

Sounds too risky to me. Redtails are just unpredictable they could be fine one minute with a tankmate then one morning you turn on the lights to find an empty tank with a only one fat, heavy breathing redtail. Happened to me sort of my redtail made a snack out of my Aro.
