Silver Arowana at LFS, should I buy?

wondered your guys' opinions. there's a somewhat large silver aro at my local fish store. they're only asking $100 for him. looks like he's got drop eye on one side.

is this a steal, or do i want to stay away from him cause of the dropeye?

Do you have a tank that can properly house the aro now? How about 6 months from now?
 
he'd be going into a 125g for the time being with just a flowerhorn. eventually i'd upgrade to a bigger tank, or just sell him.
 
No, best to leave it for someone better prepared to care for it.
 
I would pay a hundred if it didn't look so beat up. It would probably be more fun to grow a smaller one out anyway. You would have more time with it in the tank your using. Also 6 inch ones around here go for 35 bucks so I would say that an 18 incher at 100 dollars would be right in line with that. Maybe if you tell the guy you would give him 75 bucks for it on the spot he would drop the price to get rid of it. Good luck either way.

x2. For example, an LFS near me has ones that size for $100, and they are DE-free, have great coloration (nice pinks), and have perfect fins and scales.
 
Theres a guy in my city selling a 20+ incher for 80 bucks lol. DE is bound to happen with silvers. A 125 is way too small for a silver.. Unless you could upgrade soon, I wouldn't suggest getting it.
 
thanks guys, that's the advice i was looking for. i think i had a distorted perception of how much large silver aro's were worth.

on a side note, i do already have a small arowana in a different 125g tank of mine. how long do you think he'd be ok in the 125g tank for? until about what size?
