Hey guys.. I have 3 Silver Arowanas (1 at 16" and 2 at around 6" to 7") all in their own individual tanks. My Arowanas are mostly fed on gold fish and occasionally accept meat (lamb). The question is regarding one of the smaller arowanas. I noticed feeders dying over the last couple of days. I assumed it was some infection with the feeders and removed all and cleaned up the tank. This arowana after being reintroduced into his cleaned up tank was a little slow and looked very lethargic. He seemed fine after a couple of days. I did not feed any feeders until yday and these were from my own stock of home bred guppies and platies. I noticed his barbels were drooping yesterday and today i found one missing. What could be the problem. Otherwise he seems active(less active than before but active). Please help me. thanks.

IMO, it's OK to feed the fish your own bred home feeders to bring back its natural skill hunting for food...

:WHOA: its okey to feed him live feeders maybe he went chasing them then got bumped in the tank and lose a barbel.. thats what happen to my cousin's aro... :( nyweiz if re introduced they would be soo skittish and will not even move to other places in the aquarium... 1-3 days.. :D hope i helped..

its a silver if i read correctly they are delicate while small

Hey guys thanks for all the info.. well he dropped the other barbel too.. checked with a friend who breeds ornamental fish.. he said probably he got spooked and banged himself somewhere.. says it will be ok and he should grow it back.. clean water.. plenty of aeration.. own stock of feeders but i'm tryin to get him on hikari sticks.. well hope all will be well.. cheers guys..
