My problem at the moment is basically that my 12" arowana refuses to eat pellets now. I got him at 8" three months ago ad he took to pellets pretty well back then, but the past few weeks ge refuses to touch them. Instead he only wants meat such as shrimp, raw fish, and even beef and hotdog. I know that it's good to feed young arowanas plenty of meat and feeders but I'm not sure if maybe I should try to starve him on pellets now or wait til he's older and larger. Anyone have any advice for this situation?

Well stop feeding hotdogs lol. I would just strictly offer the pellets for 3-5 days. If that dosn't do it then feed him up and try again.

Yeah I go fishing with hotdogs normally so I thought "hey I wounded if my fish would eat them too..." and the arowana loved them lol I've only fed them to him once (first time today) and I may do it every now and then if it's safe for him.
And I'll try keeping him on just pellets this week and see what happens

personally id stay away from the hotdogs, not much nutrition in them hahaha but im not sure if it would be BAD for him
NO hot dogs.. they aren't any better for your arowana than they are for you. seriously, floating pellets, aro sticks (food sticks), FLOATING pellets only. every day or every other day for normal feedings and some kind of dead fish flesh once or twice a week at the most.
my guys got 1 lb of those mini-scallops that i found for $10 for a 2lb bag at the grocery store yesterday. sometime later in the week they'll get a couple lbs of tilapia cut into bite sized strips. And they will get Hikari jumbo carni-sticks and/or floating cichlid gold at least twice in between..

Alright then no more hotdog. I'm sure the one small feeding of them won't hurt anything though lol, but If he ever gains 3 pounds and turns the drift wood into a couch then I'll know the junk food finally got to him
