hello guys

i bought my silver 1 week ago . it is 9 inch .. first he is not eating food except feeders . when he was in petshop it just ate live fish how can i make him to eat other foods and it has very big stress problems when i go near the tank he swims other side of the tank fastly and smash his head .
i have 150 gal tank , black hegan sand and i have black backround. is he still dont adopt the tank? or he has another problems ? and he hasnt got tank mates. sry about my bad english :) im waiting your replys

Give him time. He's still settling down. It'll probably also take some time for him to accept other foods like pellets since he's been having feeders from the shop and he is already 9". In my experience it's easier to wean them on other foods when they're younger. Good luck!

It may take even a month to get him eating regular. Just stop feeding the feeder fish. To help make it feel more secure add some floating plants. Soon it'll be eating regular and within a year you'll have a 2 foot monster on your hands.

Silvers are jumpers, especially when the are scared. Make sure your lid is secure and weighted down, leave no hole uncovered.

My Silver is very sensitive to yellow red oranges
IDFK wat that's about but I've tested it and it's real
don't be up on the tank wearing these colors

Dont wait a month to feed him... What he meant is it may take a month for him to settle down and eat regularly. What id do is feed him live for the time being, to get him comfortable. Once he's eating like a pig, wait a few days and through some pellet in, if he refuses wait a little bit longer, it wont be long til he takes.

Also make sure you have a secure lid like said above :)

alrighty my lid is preety ok silver cant jump down all holes are closed :) and i havent got pellets now because im living cyprus probably u dont know here .its hard to find aro pellets from there i order it im waiting for them. ill give shrimps until the pellets come..thx for ur replays :)

Getting Arowanas to eat pellets is a reasonably big challenge.

It is going to relatively easier to get your Arowana to eat sea-food (Shrimps, jumbo krill etc).

Shimps (and other sea-food which he can swallow whole) can be the "staple" food for your Aro till he is settle in your tank and you can attempt to get it to eat pellets.
