I have recently bought a silver Arowana, it is about 5" in length. At the moment the only thing it will eat regularly is prawns and occasionally some mussel. Has anyone got any tips for getting them onto pellets? I have got a bag of massivore and Hikari floating sticks that I would like it to take along with the prawns.

well i got a couple of tips which hopefully will work..(or wont):-)

1.) starve it for a few days(you need to be strong here..its for the good of the fish anyways)..i know this is hard considering how much you love your fish but a few days fasting wont harm it..after a few days drop a few pellets..it might take a bite and spit it out..remove them..continue doing so on the next day and the next till it eats the pellets..make sure to remove any uneaten food otherwise you will compromise the water quality..if you feel sorry for it and give it its usual food you have to start all over again..Be strong my friend

2.) put the prawns in a dish with a little water and add the pellets to it..it will soak the flavour of the prawns and the aro might go for it..like wise drop a few pellets along with the prawns..

3.) get a pellet trained aro..now that you already have one theres no point..:-)

anyways good luck and lemme know if it starts eating pellets..

+1 on starving until he takes the pellets..... he will.... 2 days and mine bashed on some hakiri

steve.. hi.. your aro is only 5".. let it put on a couple more inches before you start to starve it.. for the time being just throw in some pellets along with the prawn or mussel.. you could stuff the chopped pieces of meat with the massivore or sticks and also try.. good luck..
