I have a healthy 20" Silver Arowana. He is active and eats great. He does, however, have a weird growth growing on his up fin. I don't think it bothers him, but it is really weird looking.

He is in a 375 gallon aquarium, water levels are normal.

Any idea of what it is, or how I can get rid of it?

thanks!

Looks like fin was damaged and one of the spines has grown into this mess. I would atempt to cut it off at what should be the tip of the spine.

...and how would I go about doing that? His weird fin is attached to the rest of his fins. Id have to cut the webbing between the two spines.

like Bderick67 said it looks like the spine got damaged and just grew back like that.

However, i would just let it be.
