I have the space for a custom aquarium of 76" long. I live in a 2nd floor and in my country we build in concrete completely, but anyway, I want to make sure that the floor will support the weight. It will be placed along an outside wall and the only place avaliable is 76" long, I want an Aro and some bichirs, so I want to make the aquarium longer for the Aro and my only option is to place the Aro in a L shaped aquarium. How long should be the 2nd arm of the L? The width will be 30" and the height 24", I don't know how many gallons they'll be, but I'm sure that the Aro appreciates more the measures that the gallons. What do you think? The corner of the L won't be a problem for the Aro?

What are you looking at 76" plus the addition of an L on the end of that?

I know that longer is better, that's why I want to add another arm so the aro has more swimming room, thanks jclyde.
It's hard to say that precisely "X" inches will provide enough swimming room, especially with such an unusual footprint, so in my opinion, you should just go as long as you can. Some people here would argue that your tank would be too small regardless, due to the width.

To Aquanero: I'm looking for more swimming room for the Aro, but I can't make the tank longer, the only way is to use an L shaped aquarium, but I'm worried because I don't know if the corner to the other arm of the "L" would be a problem for the Aro.

I can make it wider, the problem would be the large. Another 76" long and 35" width arm?
