Ok so Ive had this silver arowana since it was 5" and now its about 10-11." It has been this way for a long time and i was wondering if it just stopped growing altogether. I have had this fish for 1-1.5 years and i dont know why its not growing to the monster size that everyone talks about. I dont know why because its in a pond with plenty of room and im feeding it regularly

Water parameters? Temp? Tank size? What do u feed it?

umm i dont really know what water parameters means so im gonna just say that i clean the pond on a regular basis with 7.0 pH and NH4 NO2 NO3 are all low or 0. Size: somewhere around 300-500 gallons. Temp: varies due to seasons but theres a heater which keeps it constant ususally ( lowering from time to time cus of winter but the arowana has only been through 1 winter season ) Food: Frozen shrimp, freeze dried shrimp, commercial pellets, crickets, anything really

Everything, but Nitrates, should be zero.

I do not know why it does not grow to the pace they use to, ( maybe it's the one runt in ome million )...

I am not sure about the temps...might be you keep it too cold, and slow its metabolism?

From 5" to 11" in a year is not so bad. At 1" per month it shoulda been 17"... may be it is just genetics or in winter your heating was not up for it so the fish slowed down in growts for couple of months.

Tank mates? This can be the cause of not enough food...

It's only been about a year hasn't it? Are you sure your accurate with you measurement, it could be bigger then you think.

agreed it looks small in da pond but its huge outside of da water

i don't know what you would use to keep 300-400 gallon of pond water warm in the winter, i used to have a 100 -120 gallon pond in Garden grove and i used 4 250 watts heater just to keep it somewhere in the 70s. It can get quite cold at night in the winter in southern california (40-50). have you tried to test your water temperature at night?

here's a picture of my old pond!!! you can see the heaters i used.

WOW.. u are brave my man!

Props to you.. i never would think of a pond like that.. I too have a pond outside of my house.. but it used to be a Koi pond.. now its just oversize Feeder pond... with a butt load of algae and other plants...

But my backyard has cases of Racoon so i never put anything tropical out there.. and filtration would be horrible..

Still not a bad pond u got...
