I purchased a 4" silver arowana yesterday and was worried because after acclimating and all that good stuff I put him in my 150 with a couple of bass's and 3 Dats Its been in a corner not moving,,I Fed Krill this morning and it was not interested at all... none of my guys are Picking on it? I wonder if this is normal? should I be worried..I mean I wanted one but I didnt want to spend alot just because it would be my first arow! so to spend on a black or Australian would not be logical for me..

It is normal for arowanas to do this. They are stressed. Give him a few days. Maybe try a water change and heating the tank up to 82-86 as whenever my tank is cooler, he doesn't eat and is very scared of my hand. When I have the temp up and the lights off and It's dark outside (around 8-9 or later he will eat from my hand and actually let me pet him.) My little guy is only about 3" ATM.

Wow Cool..Im going to do that now..

Id also like to add that if you want to, you could add a little bit of salt as this will calm it down. Its not really necessary, but it'll most likely get your aro to eat sooner.

wow, i had the exact same problem with my 1.5-2" baby silver. it would just hide in the corner, behind the heater. what i did was put some fish food(tetra red pellet) right in front of it, open the lid and drop the food in front of it, the silver would most likely take a bite. do this for a couple days, then put the food out a bit farther, then put the food in the middle of the tank, etc. slowly get him to get food farther from the corner. thats what i did and now my aro swims everywhere

Shipping stress would be my first thought...

Water params?
Temp?
He gasping or breathing heavy?

Dim tank, add salt, 85F will work. Make sure you arnt knocking around and creating alot of viberation in the room hes in. And when he perks up the first thing I would try food wise would be pinhead crickets, the shell on the krill is probably to hard for his little mouth anyways. Aros always seem to go for crickets, atleast the 30+ ive taken care of.

Well My parameters are on point! I take great pride with that and I'll do a small water change because I made my weekly change on Wednesday..I'll see tomorrow..thanks you guys have been very a big help..
