Hey,

I need HELP!

I own my silver arowana for almost 2 months and it's a juvenile. I checked the water parameters nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia is 0 the only thing that is not good is the pH is pretty high about 7.6 which i am currently trying to lower it. I also do a weekly water change of about 15%-20% change. I also feed my arowana with floating pellets.

I noticed my arowana's fin looks injured. There are no white spots around the fins. But the fins are still not growing back after I used Melafix and added it for a week and did a 25% water change afterwards too. I still do not see any improvement with the fins. I am really worried about my arowana.

Please help me and if there is any suggestions for me.

Thanks!

don't worry about. Any rip or small chunk bitten off will heal perfectly. It's only when the nerves (somethinglike that) is bitten off that causes a problem. My bass had half of his pectoral fin bitten and bloodied and it healed perfectly within a week.

Add salt and do a 50% water change if you didn't for max results.

my arowana has no tank mates its the only fish in my tank.

the fins are damaged severely like there are parts that is getting shorter and its black on the ends too. This has been a few months already too.

Imo ammonia burn, read up on tank cycling and do some wc for gods sake

Go S. Vettel #1 rb8

i did do a tank cycle and tested the water parameters which everything is good including ammonia to be 0 so I am not sure how there my be any Imno ammonia burn. I also do a weekly water change to or should I change it more often.

I do apologize I am new to this forum but I appreciate all the help

are you talking about the tail fin and the top and bottom streaming one (IDK the proper name).? I pretty sure they will grow back fine. just do what I told you.

^ Just a few questions, what type of Test kit are you using at the moment / What Brand is it? / and how old is it?

When you do water changes, how much do you change each week?

How long has the tank been setup?

Coz if i were to just guess, there is a chance that maybe your test kit might be off or expired?

the test kit is a API Freshwater master test kit which i purchased a couple of months before I had purchased the fish.

when i do water changes weekly about 20% of the water.

the tank wasn't done cycling when i got the arowana but after like a week or 2 it was with the fish in the tank. I am not sure if that may be the cause, because before when I tested the parameters the nitrate was the issue of being to high and not the ammonia.

Thanks for all the help again!
