First off i have always wanted a silver arowana and have always been keeping my eye out for a tank large enuff for one. Recently i found a tank thats measurements 84"L x 22"H x 22"D. Which if you do the math is approximately 175 gallons. I wondered if this is large enough to house a silver arrowana for life.

Gallon wise it would be okay, but the dimensions are going to make it difficult for him to turn around. It's not even 2 ft deep. A full grown Arowana is between 3-4.

More like between 2-3', a 3'+ aro in captivity is extremely rare, and I believe the world record wild caught silver aro was 47", so the chances of one getting even close to 4' in captivity are very slim. Other than that, I agree with your post, the minimum tank size for a silver is a standard 180g (6x2x2).
