i went through and read some similar topics but i just wanted to post a updated version. i was thinking about getting an silver arowana, but i want to see there are any more compatible fish. and more specifically does anyone have info/experience with SA's and oscars?

from my experience small sa's should be kept by themselves in a quiet ( almost still water) darkened very clean established small tank with a lot of baby guppies until
they get to be 7-10 inches then moved to a larger tank
18" or 24" deep (front to back) minimum until they get a couple of years old and around 18" long. after this you can keep them with anything that won't fit in their mouth or harass them. i found large pacu, cats, snakehead, tiger datnoid etc work nicely. just remember they are very high strung powerful jumpers and can react explosivley when cornered etc. so proceed with caution and give them lots of room. many of them end up on the floor with a crooked eye and missing barbel after a few years.

aros should be 2x bigger then the oscar

it is not good to feed your aros live. I give mine live once and a while as a treat

Keep the small SA aros be themselves until 5~6" and then very select non aggressive tankmates upto 10". Once that size you can keep with cichlids, the aro should be 2x as long as the cichlids.
