Will it be ok if i put a 8 inch Silver Arowana with a 13 inch shovelnose catfish??
I ask because my Silver is getting to big for his 45 gallon tank and i want to know if i can move him to my 100 gallon tank..

This would be better suited in the Catfish forum. Members there would be able to tell you if the shovelnose is a threat to the aro.

I sure someone with experience in the matter will chime in.

To give yourself an idea...is your cat wider than your aro is tall? If so he's likely in danger. If it's a LSN you're likely OK, but if it's a TSN maybe not.

Depends on what kind of shovelnose, how aggressive it is, what it eats, etc. It might not, but then again it could turn on ya and go for it. I'd say if they're that close in size, you'd probably be alright, but if its a TSN, it could probably get it down after awhile.

If you do try it, keep a close eye on them, but it would most likely happen at night.

I got my TSN from craigslist, the reason they were selling it was because it attacked and killed their aro that was the same size as the TSN. Of course, they had both of them in a 55g - I think the tighter the space, the higher the chance of problems. Ever since I've had him, he's been fairly docile.

thanks for the response guy.. it really helps... but i got another question before i try anything.. what is lsn and tsn???

i think LSN is a lima shovel nose car and TSN is a tiger shovel nose cat ;)

Yep!

Lima's get around 2', TSN's can get 4-5'

If you put them together, I'd make sure the TSN has a very full belly. Like I said, mine is very docile, he gets a feeder guppy or two every now and then for a treat and he takes a few hours to even bother with them.
