ok hello this is my first post so here goes, i have a baby arowan (silver) he's about 4-5" and he doesnt eat at all. he was fed on live zebras for abt 3 weeks now bt i starved him and tried floating sticks bt he doesn't seem interested, any suggestions? plz no blood worms or krill or even frozen beef heart :/ oh yea fyi i nvr saw him eat any live feeders, the feeders would just disappear every day when i put them. please some help me

Probably dont want to starve um when its that small, but take a chane, when its hungry it'll just realize that the floating sticks are food. Other then that anything small enough to fit in its mouth is food. gl

Why are you opposed to bloodworms and krill? See if he'll eat small pieces of market shrimp. If it does, u can start sticking pellets in the shrimp bits. Slowly increasing the amount of pellets overtime till it takes the pellets

Putting floating pellets also makes the shrimp float. Worked for one of my blacks that wouldn't eat.

he even had small prawn and shrimp and he refused it it just stood there for a while untill i had to remove it. :/

i got my silver aro at about 2 inches and and he immediately at feeders, bloodworms, and even pellets. mabye try breaking the pellets in half to make them a little smaller. and if he doesnt eat feeders when you watch then why would he eat a new type of food whil you watch. try giving him pellets and walk away for a couple minutes. mabye they will be gone when you come back just like the feeders! good luck anyhow.
PS check out my aro eating pellets he loves them

As stated above don't go overboard trying to starve him at this young age. Continue with the feeder fish for now to keep him healthy, but definitely try crickets. Insects are a natural food, so you should be able to get him to eat those. You can get crickets at PetSmart in small sizes.

When he is a little bigger and you are ready to try pellets and food sticks again, soak them in water first to soften them up nicely. The reason they make arowana sticks specifically, is that the sticks are made more porous and soak up water to get soft quicker. The thought here is that softened food sticks are more like a soft live feeder fish when compared to the rock hard crunchy pellets. I read this on Hikari's site somewhere.
