In the next few months I am looking to buy a 220 gallon tank, and ideally I want to stock it with a couple silver aros and a couple freshwater barricudas, all about the same size. Is this going to be a good mix, from what Ive read the Barricudas are more middle level swimmers, and the aros are top. Anyone try this combo before? Any opinions are welcome.

*Barracudas

If they're big enough that the aro can't eat 'em, it should be fine.

Although it is a big tank, two silver aros should eventually be placed in even a larger tank then that. Something you may consider before buying your new tank or the silver aros.

Are you talking for life, Arowana grow somewhat fast, and get big. From experience Aces. dont grow all that fast, and top out at like 11" Maybe pick a fish that is not so slender and appetizing grows a bit bigger like a odoe pike maybe? Just my opinion though.

no that wouldnt be for life, and i may end up getting/building something bigger in the end. we'll see about costs, the 220 would just be a starter because i would be getting small fish, and there is a size restraint on my current apartment

On the flip side a 220 is a BIG tank, and if you got a few arowana they would last for a long long time, they grow fast but not overnight you know.

And if you upgrade in 2ish years you could keep them for life. Have you looked into odoe pikes, they are like barracuda but grow at a rate to keep up with arowana, I mixed the 2 and there was minimal fighting between the 2.

Good luck post pics of what you get!!
