Question for those who know...will Silver get picked on by Red Devil, Butterkofi, jag ect type fish in large tank? All raised as young fish...
I am considering replacing my Jardini who jumped out of tank with a Silver.
Thanks.

Most important, don't mix your arowana with any of the stated fish until the arowana is 10-11". AT that point you can mix them as long as the arowana is twice the length of any of the stated cichlids.

Tank size is going to need to be well over 300g with proper dimensions, in order to house these fish when larger.

the cichlids you stated are pretty aggro at any size. like brian said, keep the aro alone and let it grow to a good size before you put any tank mates in with it.

Silver are fragile when small but bulletproof when larger. As mentioned, hold of on the aggressive tankmates until he has some size.

Hey Sac,

I had started off wiht my baby 2 inches with two blood parrots of approx. 3 inches; they would constantly attach the aro; I managed to separate them within a day and re-introduced them when the aro was one and half size of the blood parrots .. it was a peaceful tank from then on. Also, BlackShark's statement of "Silver are fragile when small but bulletproof when larger" is dot on. Aros are very fragile until 4 inches at which point they are fully formed and grow into the beautiful monsters they are.

You make it sound like at 4" they can be kept with anything. This is very far for the truth.
