today im going to get a silver arrowana. Right now i would have to put it in a 30 (not for long!) until it grows big enough to be with my monster cats. Will a 4 inch arro survive with an EBJ (electric Blue jack) for about a month or two. the EBK is about 2 inches, but a nippy little one. im just a little worried.:nilly:id go crazy if it hurt the arro

Pics would help. 2" is sort of broad when it comes to measuring fish. there's 2" fry and then theres 2" adults...both with extreme variations in their actual bulk. I have four EBJD fry at about 1.75" for the biggest, and a 4" aro would be just short of eating them.

Post a pic of the JD, the aro as well if possible

Nippy + arowanas = BAD. Keep the aro alone until it is larger than the EBJ by a lot, preferably at least double its size. Then, introduce the EBJ to the Aro's tank, DONT introduce the EBJ first. Also, please, please PLEASE cover your tank well. It's not that I don't think you will, its that my arowana took out 20+ pounds of weights yesterday and is now in the giant aquarium in the sky. I can't tell you how horrible that feels. Close EVERY opening, and I'd stack bags of aquarium gravel on the top, clamp down the tops, and, once you're sure that there is absolutely no way for him to get out, add more weight. Trust me, nothing sucks more than finding your beautiful arowana dead on the floor.

get 200 parrot fish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would be sick!!!:ROFL:then breed them!!!!!:headbang2

The arowana will have outgrown that 30g tank long before it will be big enough to be housed with your catfish.

Your best bet is to get a tank that you can properly house the catfish in. Then you would be able to grow out the arowana in your 125g tank.

thanks. My plan is to have the arro in the 30 for awhile. Im sorry also i made a mistake, the arro is about 3 inches and the blue jack about the same size. they get along great and for some reason eat cichlid flakes together haha. when the arro outgrows the 30 i will have made an indoor pond for the catfish and gar i have. The arro goes in the 125 until big enough for the pond. AND yes the tank is jump proof for now.

nice when the ponds done pics would be good

i keep my silver with my cichlids but it is double their size. they were nipping a little at the very beginning but then the aro retaliated and they havnt been anywhere near it since, even tho they are really aggressive. Sometimes feel the aro could swallow any one of them whole if he wanted. So i would say as long as your aro is double their size it will be fine
