I did a massive 40% water change about a week ago. since that water change the arrow was sluggish at eating and acting tired most of the time. He ate but very little, i got another silver in there which is way smaller then him. Anyways the small one bullies the big one since that water change.

The silver now refuses to eat anything. Anything like this happened before to you peeps?

All my other fish are ok except for my beast.

I always done large 50% WCs with my aros every 4 to 7 days and never had this happen. Only thing remotely close that I had happen is my two large silvers once went into a hunger strike after I dosed the tank with melafix. It is more likely the smaller aro is stressing the larger and this is leading to it's behavior. Is the smaller aro new, can you separate them?

Are you water stats ok. You might want to check your ph the water department my have adding something to the water that would have raised your tapwater ph since the last water change.

I do a water change once every 2 weeks usually little like 20% this time i did a bit more.

Yes the new silver is quite new. But he bit the little one at the beginning and put it into place but now the small one is the boss (dont understand how when the big one is double da size.)

could be that due to the water change some of the BB died and the ammonia sky rocketed and the big one has amonia posioning cuz it is showing symptoms...check your water parameters and good luck!!

There are two ways to deal with this problem. One is just wait a few days and be patient. The water will stablize and he will get hungry. Or you can add more stess coat than needed, make sure the water temp is perfect. and add 1 teaspoon of aquarium salt for every 5 gallons of water. You have to mix the salt first to dilute it and then add to your tank if you have already done the water change. When I do my water changes, I try to get the water I am add to be the same as the tank temp, and I add the salt and stress coat with each buckt of water I take out. When I am done, my fish act like it is a party. They eat and just go crazy. Make sure you clean your filter out too, and when you do a water change do you use the siphon to clean the gravel? I am not sure how you clean your tank, I was just sharing how I do mine and I hope this helps you have a happier tank.

i had an aro abotu a year ago and like you i did a massive 40-50% water change and abotu 2 days later it stopped eating, the day after that it turned green and started hanging around the bottoom of the tank not moving, by the 5th day it was dead ={
R.I.P. little aro

arghh!!!! its just the big one that is affected my beloved prized fish!.

I suppose it was due to the water change, i didnt expect a big water change would affect him that much. But the tank needed it since i was going over seas. I did do on in dec a massive one but the silver was ok. Then again this silver is a bit moody, when i first got him didnt eat for a week and a half. *shrugs* i added all the chemicals in now to wait and see.
