silver arrow+sand?

my arowana recently started eating from the bottom when the food drops to the sand substrate. is this bad that he gets sand in his mouth im new to arrows and thought they were mostly surface feeders.

Mine does it all the time and he's fine. He's always scooping some debris off the bottom in search for food, he just lets the sand out of his gills.

if they weren't fine with sand they wouldn't be found over it in the wild...they wont eat the sand...

My aro does that once in a while. The sand just comes out his gill as Exile mentioned.

sometimes when i dont feed my arowana on waterchange day or before i feed him he searches the bottom and thinks he sees food but gets a mouth full of sand. lol pretty funny, but he has perfect aim when getting food of the bottom.
