Silver $$ assortment

She who decides how much I can spend on this hobby wants me to get silver dollars. The regular red finned guys. I like them, and they are inexpensive, but I like the tigers and bars as well. I am thinking about getting a couple of each. Has anyone got experience with a mixed shoal? I am wondering if they will all school together or split up by species. I don't think they would be as comfortable as several pairs / trios as if it was a large shoal. Thoughts please.

Before I sold my silver dollars I had 2 widebars, 3 narrow bars, 3 hardbodied, and 3 red hooks all swimming together in a 265 with very little aggression.

They are probably one of the least intelligent fish I've ever seen. Any species of them. I don't think they notice much nor care.

Shoal all day. I was at bigrichs n saw firsthand a school of prob 20 HUGE SD different types and when he threw in a couple pacu I brought they shoaled with the SD also

I currently have two thinbars, three regular redhooks and one silver dollar and they all shoal as a group.

I have three red hooks and three spotted SD's and they do not mix. Then again the spotted are half the size of the red hooks.... so that might be part of the issue.

I have them in a 210g.

I always find them too skittish. But i guess if you have a big enough tank with tall plants on either end, and 7+ of the fish, they should school and be ok.
