Silver Datnoid AKA AT...Why American?

I've wondered this for a while now and I thought I'd finally ask. Anyone know why Silver Datnoids are also called American Tigers? Obviously they're not from America and I have no clue why the name stands as it is.

I would think AT would be Asian tiger, not American tiger. Silver dats come from Asia so...

That could make sense but all datnoids are from Asia, and I know I'm not the only one who's seen Silvers called American Tigers.

I've seen them called Americans as well. I've tried to find out why but couldn't find any info.

In my opinion, they need a name change to "silver datnoid" or i.e. a STD specie. As known as Silver Tiger Datnoid.
