Scats may need BW eventually, but SILVER DATS can do just fine in freshwater.
The oscar will however outgrow the dat...

I put them together and at first the dat was acting scared but now he is actually attacking the oscar and the oscar turned from deep black to a golden brown or yellow

I meant to type dats....but yea silver DATS actually do need brackish water a lot more then other dats....read some books and you can even look online and most places say they prefer brackish over fresh a whole lot.....but your looking for another argument with me and i'm not gonna do it....

Yea ive noticed silvers can be pretty aggressive, as long as you seperate them before the oscar is big enough to eat the dat you SHOULD be good. but you never know..lol

i put a 6" tiger oscar in with a 6" indo dat and the dat attacked the oscar quite badly - but then the tables turned and i had to rescue the dat otherwise he would have been killed! I wouldnt recommend keeping the 2 together but then thats just my experience:)
