Does Silver Datnoid (Datnioides polota) need brackish waters? I see mix reviews on google?

You'll be fine in freshwater.

I'm going to go against what seems to be the consensus here and say that in my opinion for a silver dat to really live out his full possible lifespan a mild brackish is required.

That is mostly why despite being quite common in the hobby you rarely see full grown speciments compared to indo dats, which are 100% freshwater.

No. Definitely freshwater.
Have you kept one? Obviously I haven’t but been doing research in the past 24hrs, I saw previously owners say they couldn’t get them over a year old in pure freshwater. Then had better luck again doing it in brackish overtime.

No. Definitely freshwater.
Even many older threads seem to agree that silver dats do best in brackish
All dats are freshwater.
Its also not the only one
