Silver Dolla egg photos

Hey MFK

My Silver Dollas have mated a fair amount of times, however because they are homed in a community tank the others just spend the day sifting through gravel to eat some fine caviare.

This time I decided to take action! They'd already been mating for a few hours so there must have been a good amount of eggs around. With my net in hand I set out to get some eggs for my self.

The method that worked best was to skim the top of the gravel with the net, causing the eggs to lift. The quickly going back on my self.

In total I got about 15 in a small breeder.

You want to make sure to keep some sort of water movement around them eggs..not much but some....

The breeder has some small wholes in it and the pumps blowing right at them (from the other end of the tank. I'll be sure to replace the water daily mind.

you may want to go with an egg tumbler to keep them viable. it'll aerate them and keep them from fungusing.
