I got 3 silver dollars a few months ago to help cycle my tank, I was going to give them to a friend after they have done their job, but now I have sort of gotten attatched to them, I may keep them. My question is, has anyone on here got them to grow to an impressive size? are they worth keeping in the long run?

Silver dollars are good dither fish. They can reach 4" or so. They mix well with alot of fish!

Just regular ol' silver dollars? I've seen some big ones brought in to LFSs. I am really liking my wide bars.

Yeh, they are just regular ones. The thing is, if I decide to keep them, I will have to get them their own tank. They are in a tank with a Murray Cod, and I don't believe they will survive once it gets bigger.
They will be tough to catch but may ultimately end up as a meal. I had some red hook silver dollars that looked like dinner plates and ate like pigs.

I may take a few days to ponder as to what to do with them. THey must look spectacular at a bigger size.
They did but I had to get rid of them because they were eating all the food. My dithers outgrew my main fish

Wide bars look like a pacu when they are grown. The bar mostly disappears and they get a lot of red in the throat.
