Any idea what species they are? They look similar to redhooks but I have 30+ redhooks (m. Rubripinnis) and none are deep bodied or as pointed of a fin as these.

M. Altodorsalis, I think

Were being sold as redhooks but didn't look right to me. I need redhooks for their size. I think these will stay too small

Definitely not a redhook, the face and body shape are different, and the anal fin would be much longer, as you noted.
What is the cohab with? You might be able to get away with these, though they are a pretty small species of silver.

I need the size unfortunately. Cohab is with 2 foot across rays, large arowana, and soon to be either p. Bass or a perch of some variety

I just saw this. Photos are terrible. However, Not Metynnis altidorsalis (high body shape of fish, and shape of anal fin are wrong for that).
I would agree with Metynnis hypsauchen.

Did the best I could in a crowded shop. Fish keeper, not photographer...
Thanks for the feedback

I apologize. I meant to say “photos not very clear but showing traits needed for id”. Did you end up getting the fish? Looked like a nice and large mature female.
