We recently bought what was labeled as a silver dollar from one of our favorite fish stores, butI'm beginning to question its species.
After a bit of googling its looking more and more like a baby pacu to me, with a silver body, darker grey spots, black "trim" on its tail and bright flecks on its upper half. Its belly and lower fins are quite red also, and there is a seam-like edge that runs along the center of its belly from gills to anal fin.
Hopefully my pictures have uploaded successfully, any input would be great! Any fish who will grow to anywhere near 3' will quickly outgrow my 55g tank!

Thanks for the welcome! I've been referencing these forums for a year now without actually joining and I figured it was time.

Take it back to the store and give them a good talking to about the mislabeling of such a huge growing fish.

Oh I was planning on it. Just a couple weeks ago I pointed out an opaline gourami labeled as blue/spotted

How much do these guys go for typically if I somehow found someone with a large enough tank to actually care for it? I believe my local stores largest tank is 150g

Called the store and one of the main fish keepers asked me to research myleus rubripinnis luna (moon red hook, red hook silver dollar) to compare photos but they would "bend over backwards to make it right"
