A few days ago I noticed one of my Silver Dollars had an area that looked almost as if the slime coat was gone.. It was a full oval shaped area on his side... It was right after a water change so I figured he may have bumped himself. The next day the spot shrunk but he developed a white area. I have no clue what it is and I don't know how to treat it...

Tank parameters:

75g
Temp: 78.9
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 25ppm

Filtration:
Magnum 350
Sun Sun 265
Aqua Clear 70

Gold nugget did not do this...in any case silver dollars are too active for pleco to do this anyway. Looks like an infection, not sure if it is bacterial or fungal...

You seem pretty sure of urself. It very well could have been the pleco, regardless we both dont know his feeding habbits or water params for that matter

just treat with salt should go away if it gets worse look into getting a treatment if you can identify weather its bacterial or fungal. possibly treat with melafix and pimafix combined? aslong as you have plenty of oxygen being put in your tank.

It could very well of been done by the gold nuggets but I highly doubt it. All the fish are fed once a day. The gold nugget eats algae wafers and occasionally blood worms.

I have since separated the silver dollar. I'm treating with salt and a little heat till I get a better diagnoses.
