I don’t even know if silver dollars are considered monster fish but that’s the tank they’re in so here we are. Okay. SO. Last month I moved. All was well, until, ich.
Gr8. Okay so I take the silver dollars out in an effort to save my arowana from the ich (alas. She got it anyway) however. I decided for whatever reason to keep the silvers in quarantine and treat both the QT tank and the 290 gallon.
Why? Not a clue. In the QT tank I had heaters. (Treating with heat and salt, preferred method, works every time) okay so this time, I pull out one of the SDs and he’s got a huge ass blister. (We affectionally call him Blistex now) and I’m like alright, homeboy got caught between the heater and the side of the tank, sucks to suck, he’ll be fine. Or so I thought. But this “blister” is getting bigger. So now I’ve not got the slightest idea what it could be. Help ya girl out. First pic is 2/18. Second and third are today.

Kind of looks like a sac with fluid. Could try a round of triple sulfa and dip in some methylene blue. If not better then it may need to be drained and fluid looked at. Good thing there’s no redness around it and hasn’t turned into a wound.

how would one drain it? a needle I assume? Where can you even get needles without looking like a herion addict?

Also if i drain it what can i do to help it heal? He'll need to be in QT this whole time which is okay, since I have a couple tanks set up. but if I drain it, what am i looking for in the fluid?

Just want to look at the color. But I would move it to qt first and try abx before draining it.

treat as per directions on triple sulfa, yes? and then what do i do for a methylene blue dip? I've never done it before.
Yes. Treat per the directions for the triple sulfa. Methylene blue is a dip. Can use kordon blue. Directions are on it as well. Need a bucket to physically dip the fish and keep for about 10min. If the fish rolls over or stresses then return to the qt tank.

try triple sulfa first, if that doesn't work, then dip, if that doesn't work, then drain? or do sulfa and dip?

Would sulfa and dip. Then if not better and since getting better then try using a insulin needle in it and drain it.
