my male silver dollar refuses to eat and he breaths kind of heavy and just drifts around sometimes he stays at the top of the tank he also has a white upper mouth water parameters are fine and all tank mates are fine so wat could be wrong with him?

i dont know but ill be watching this thread as iv just started my 1st school of SDs.
from my limited exeprience with them as yous said water temp ect is fine, so if its not a disease he might have crashed into something or maybe he got a fright..but im totaly guessing so wait for an expert to put u right

1. Take him out of that tank and put him in a hospital tank
2. Frequent water changes with salt added
3. If no change in health, you might want to try some dif kinds of food

i dont think its that becuase he seems to have just beaten up his nose makeingit white stress might be a factor though since the females are always fighting and chaseing him and each other around and my payaras attack the sds sometimes for territorial reasons i will try different foods and will move to a hospital tank if i have to
put him in a smaller tank with just tetras in it and he stopped breathing as heavy but i didnt trust him in it since he was so big i didnt want him breaking the glass so i moved him back to the main tank he breaths heavy still but everything else is fine temp in main tank is inbetween 84,86 and just above 86 should i do a water change ?
put him back in the small tank for now just in case dont want any other big fish getting sick do i still need to treat the main tank with a water change and api salt or not and if so how much salt per gallon for a tank with charicoids and soft skin catfish like a juruense?
