Wanted opinions on putting the above mentioned fish together. I have 4 metynnis fasciatus (5inches) in a quarantine tank right now and wanted to put them in a 55 gal with 4 small clown loaches and 3 angel fish. I know its too small long term and will be upgrading soon.

Yup, I think they'll do good together. Will be an interesting tank.

I wouldn't do it, especially if I was still growing out the angels. SDs are food hogs and far too quick for the more slow moving angels. Your going to have a hard time getting enough food to the growing angels & loaches.

Iv heard about them being hogs but i have been having the opposite problem with these guys....when I had them with my oscar/hrp/metae....they couldnt get to the food fast enough

Your welcome to try it, you won't have a problem from an aggression standpoint, but you'll likely end up with stunted angels or really high nitrates from overfeeding to make sure the angels get enough food.

I'm not a fan of tetras/characins in a grow out tank. When youre growing out juvies, you want them to get as much food as they can hold & your WC schedule can accomodate. I'm not looking for any food-competition until they are adult size.

SD's are a pain with any fish that isn't as fast as them. I have a 240 with mostly SD and I have to overfeed for my Dats to eat. They have learned my trick about overfeeding one end and immediately dumping food for Dats in the other. If my wife didn't like them I would sell them or cut them up to feed my polys.

The SD will be shy around that stock, but more aggressive w/ angels. You can get around this by feeding at opposite ends of the tank.
