I've been looking into silver dollars... But I have a planted tank. It's 36"x12"x20".
After doing research on other sites, I have found reports of them leaving java fern and anubias alone, as well as crypts and Crinum (onion plants).

Can anyone back up this info? I used the search bar on AC and got mixed results.

The only plants I have are java fern, anubias, crypts, and I may be bringing an onion plant home from my school's tank.

ALSO- would 3 be a good number of SDs for my tank?
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer!

I have heard 5 sliver dollars is the magic number....i bought three. My Jardini killed one but the other two are now 5 inches and absolutely nuts. They are supposed to be vegetarians but will eat anything and everything I put in the tank, mealy bugs, trout worms, Hakari sticks, prawn, algae tabs, flake, krill, each others fins(just a little) ....except peas. Be careful with plants!!! Mine would eat them. LOL

Thant tank will be too small for full grown SD, and they will eat any kind of plants very quickly. A school of full grown SD needs a 6' tank IMO.
