Silver Dollars as dithers a pair if Parachromis freddies?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if they breed they could try to kill them, how big is the tank? you will need to get them at a bigger size, for a better chance of it working

I have found SD to be bad dithers for the parachromis species. Large jewel cichlids, large convicts work best IMO

yea i bought Silver dollars and they were killed with in 24 hrs and they were a good size Jewels and convicts work best IMO too

depending on tank size, maybe. I use them in a community setup with goods results, but they are as big or bigger than most of the other fish including a freddy. I was just reading in another thread where Aquamojo uses them with parachromis species. Funny how different things work for different folks

What if they are all raised together? I'd really like too keep some silver dollars and thought the freddies would be more tolerant than my jags.

The freddys can be just as aggressive but its gonna be trial and error. You can try it with a few SD and see what happens. You yourself have to find a good fish your freddys will tolerate

As an update - the SD's are working out great. The larger fish don't bother with them. They are more of a danger to themselves though as they get stuck in my dividers and swim right into my Koralia pumps. I think I'll use more of the SD's in the future.
