Whad up folks,

Long time no see. I have recently purchased my first tank (after selling everything last year due to moving). It is a 70 gallon. I was wanting to know the types of fish I could breed in such a tank.

Even if it is just cichlids/Fish like

Jack Dempseys

Silver Dollars

Barbs (if so which ones would flourish in a 70 gallon)

Frontosa pair?

Please feel free to give ideas. Note, that is the only tank i have now so the fish need to be good together

I was also thinking silver dollars (if so, how many could I keep)

Thanks guys.

Do you want to breed for money or for fun? As far as actually making some coin out of it, Hypancistrus zebra would be your best bet in terms of income, but also require a big initial outlay and you'll need more than one tank for growing out fry.

Cheap and easy to breed isn't profitable. Expensive and easy to breed won't be profitable at all. Expensive and difficult to breed might not return you anything...

Damn you serious? :/ I thought silver dollars would be fun. I do not want to REALLY do JD because they are aggressive fish, and the market for solo tank fish is not as high as profitable as community tank fish...

So silvers don't breed in aquariums? Frontosa pair in 65 gal? Or plecos?

What do you guys think of Sailfin pleco or L270 chocolate pleco?

P.S. Someone told me I can't breed these in an aquarium (65 gal), because they need a pond?

If you do jacks do two blue gened jacks to get electric blues. You can also do one electric blue and one store bought. This way you can test if the store bought jack has the blue gene by the offsprings. Then you can breed the offsprings to get electric blues. Or you can even try a gold jack.

I would'nt do this but you can do guppies and selective breed for certien traits and colors. If you are going to breed something get something you can control the genetic out comes with a little. It will make it more interesting.

I can't get blue jd's here..so damn hard

Could I do Frontosa's in my 65 gallon? I mean just Frontosa's nothing else.
